Ambassador Marc J. Sievers served as the inaugural director of AJC Abu Dhabi — the Sidney Lerner Center for Arab-Jewish Understanding — where he was a leading advocate for the deepening and expansion of the Abraham Accords. A career member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service with 30+ years of experience, Ambassador Sievers served as U.S. Ambassador to Oman from 2016 to 2019. Prior to his ambassadorship, he served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d'Affaires in Cairo during Egypt's post-Arab Spring transition, Political Minister-Counselor in Baghdad, and Counselor for Political Affairs in Tel Aviv — making him one of the State Department's foremost regional hands.
